Porcelain, Gold Luster, Twine
Created over the course of three months, this piece is comprised of hand drawn patterns on unfired thin porcelain tiles that are then painstakingly sewn into with slip-soaked thread. The small tiles, once fired, glazed and lustered, were then joined together with twine and hundreds of hand-tied knots.
This simple yet complex process and resulting work is the culmination of years of Imbeau exploring methods of combining her love of sewing and ceramics, as well as her enduring preoccupation with assertion of physical presence through the combination of many small parts.
