Porcelain, Gold Luster, Twine

Begun in 2018 and revisited at the beginning of 2021, this new series incorporates sewing into Imbeau's ceramic practice, allowing for the exploration of different symbols and a way to merge two aspects of her practice: clay and fiber arts. The simple house forms represent ideas of shelter and anthropomorphisms, while each flower has a specific meaning: honeysuckle is a symbol of nostalgia, and white heather is a commonly used symbol of protection. Her decision to use flowers is not based solely on the historical use of flowers as a language, but also their temporal fragility balanced by their abundance, tenacity and beauty conceptually ties into ideas prevalent in her other work.
